hi there and welcome to this week's leading with purpose Friday digest today we're going to be talking about how to best execute on your strategic plan initiatives and strategic planning is something that kind of a core component of what we do for services for our clients I love being able to work with teams to create the plan but then also walk alongside them for regular check-ins with whether it's the CEO or the president or my point of contact but also continue to meet with teams throughout the year on a quarterly or as needed basis uh to make sure that we are still on track to make sure that that we're doing the things that are needed to accomplish the goals that have been identified and so there's a Blog down below make sure you check it out um there are some I would say fundamental pieces that help make strategic planning um more effective in my experience there's probably three or four things that I consistently see successful teams doing as they are executing on their strategic plan and they're the following in no particular order uh number one is Clarity that everyone is 100% clear on where we're going and why and when I say everyone initially everyone in the room that is creating the plan but ultimately cascading that out to the broader stakeholder group and honestly down to the front line um to make sure that everyone understand understands and feels inspired by and aspirational about the forward progress of the organization the second is cander strategic planning is hard work and no one's got a crystal ball and it is essential for the individuals that are in the room helping to create the plan have the courage this is the other piece I think the courage and the cander to say are we sure that we know where we're going are we sure this is the right thing have we considered all of these factors is there something we're missing I don't agree with this whatever it is there's got to be cander and courage in order to carve out the right path forward if anyone in that room with withholds or holds back important information or how they're feeling about it um ultimately that's going to derail the path of the execution of the plan moving forward and that's really the final piece is alignment one person does not execute on the Strategic plan it takes every person in the organization knowing what their role is being focused on the right priorities taking the right action making the right decisions having the right communication along the way again a strategic plan is very much a living item every single day in organizations and so having strong alignment of the leadership team uh that we know where we're going we know why we're going there uh we understand the steps to get there we've all agreed to and contributed to the solutions to the plan um and we agree to throughout the year hold each other accountable to those action items that we all said that we were going to do and so that alignment is is essential that's really kind of the foundation but Clarity courage and cander and then finally alignment to kind of put a nice bow on that execution plan so um as you are thinking about strategic planning we're happy to help even start that process with you um or walk alongside you for a year or even more to help you execute on that awesome strategic plan that we're going to build so stay in touch if we can do anything to help you out um but as always we are here to build better and more purposeful leaders so we hope to hear from you soon take care [Music]
