DO THIS TO IMPROVE GROUP WORK!

yeah so if you're struggling with group work this is my no prep solution that I share with a lot of teachers and that is have students set a goal for group work before they get with their peers so imagine you just went over the instructions and the expectations what they're going to be doing so the students have an idea and then before they meet with their teams and start working you just take one minute and have them write down in their notebook paper what they want to work on improving they'll reflect on what they normally struggle with and what they could be doing better and then they just write it down right and then you say okay good everyone wrote it down get into your groups now imagine Jimmy is all of a sudden way off task you might pull Jimmy to the side and say hey what was the goal you set oh it was to actually like stay on task more or it was actually to be a more helpful group member oh how are you doing with that do you need some help because like I'm seeing you kind of all task and I feel like I could help you meet your goal better that's not just like scolding a kid that's showing that you're trying to help them become a better student
