Correlation vs Causation
About this lesson
Correlation the tendency of two things to move together is everywhere in data. Causation the relationship in which one thing actually produces the other is far rarer than the statistical evidence usually warrants. Treating one as proof of the other has supported a long parade of confidently misguided business decisions, and recognizing the gap between them is one of the most valuable habits a discerning consumer of analysis can develop.
