Clay is doing something kind of awesome for their employees. They're letting employees who have worked at the company for at least a year participate in a $20 million tender offer. This is going to be offered at a $ 1.5 billion valuation led by Sequoia. Now Clay has over a 100 employees, so it's not like these employees are cashing out huge amounts, but reportedly they'll be able to get something similar to a year salary. Clay isn't the only company that has allowed this recently, but I certainly think it's a bit earlier than usual to allow it, and it is so awesome for employees to be able to take some money home. I wish more companies would think through how to provide liquidity to employees, especially as it gets harder and harder to go public these days. Original Description
Tender offers allow employees to participate in raises by selling a portion of their stock. Usually, I see companies who are at mulit-billion dollar valuations do this, and Clay is certainly doing it on the earlier end, but still awesome! Perhaps also Clay has been around for a while, and this gives people a chance to cash out if they've been with the company for a long time.
