About this lesson

In this vlog, I describe our classroom pen pal project. Through Facebook, I found a teacher in NY looking for a fifth-grade class to team up with as pen pals. This video describes the first letter exchange. I will continue to make more videos about the project as we progress through the school year. Hello Teachers! My name is Melanie Howell, and I have been a classroom teacher for more than 20 years. The majority of my teaching years have been spent in fifth grade. I love getting up and going to school because no two days are ever the same. I love pouring myself into the lives of my students and I learn something new every day. Teaching allows me to be a servant and a leader. By serving my students and putting them first, I model responsible, adult leadership. It is all about making a difference in the life of a child.
