Hello, I am Pierce. I lead the PM team here on VS Code and I want to share one of my top tips that I love about VS Code which is bring your own key. Uh so of course in GitHub copilot you get access to leading models from open AAI anthropic gemini XAI uh and now Microsoft as well with our new MAI flash model but of course there's many models available right uh local models cloud hosted models and not all those are available in GitHub copilot and so VS code has a cool thing called bring your own key which basically allows you to bring any model and use it inside of GitHub copilot this doesn't require a GitHub account doesn't require a GitHub copilot account you can go into chat inside VS Code click Manage language models. There's some providers already available there by default. Of course, you can also select the custom endpoint option. So, if you have any model that supports chat completions API, responses API, or the messages API shape, you can wire that up. You can use that from VS Code, be that a local model, maybe you're running Quinn or something like that locally, or a cloud hosted model. So, give it a try and enjoy.
