The pier caps , also known as Tranums are the beams provided on pier to provide a platform for Girders to rest. They transfer the load from traffic safely to the pier cap which transfers it to the foundations. This video shows the pier cap main reinforcement and connection details with the pier. It also shows the shear keys and rubber and concrete bearing pads for the girders. It also shows how concreting is done for the Pier cap and its components. .
