Bain's Interview Changes - Summer 2026

Bain is planning to launch an AI-enabled interview starting Summer 2026. Details are still limited. But Bain's global head of recruiting has signaled 2 things worth paying attention to. First – candidates will use an AI tool during a live case exercise, similar to McKinsey's Lilli interview. The interviewer evaluates how you structure, prompt, iterate, and synthesize. Not what the AI produces. Second – and this is where Bain diverges from McKinsey – Bain has suggested it may also evaluate how candidates used AI in their preparation. Not just performance in a single session, but broader AI habits and fluency. That raises the bar. It's not enough to perform well under observation. You need to build genuine, disciplined AI habits before you walk in the door. Start now. Practice cases with AI open. Use it to stress-test your thinking, not replace it. Challenge outputs.
