There is a study you need to know about.

Not because it should scare you. Because it happened. Inside real human brains. While real people were using ChatGPT. And the results were uncomfortable enough that the lead researcher embedded traps in the paper to catch people who would use AI to read it instead of reading it themselves.

She was right. They did exactly that.

MIT Media Lab researchers put EEG sensors on the heads of 54 people and watched their brains work in real time. Three groups: one wrote essays with ChatGPT, one used Google, one used nothing at all. And what they saw was not ambiguous.

Brain connectivity scaled down with the amount of help people got. The no-help group had the strongest, widest neural networks firing. The Google group was in the middle. The ChatGPT
