## The ugly truth of Design in 2026

I’ve been spending a lot of time trying out every new AI tool and hype recently. Looking at how our industry is changing. At this point, I can clearly see where the design is heading with Agents & AI.

As a design leader talking to multiple peers and reading global trend reports, the same questions came up every time.

> _Is it over for designers? What is the role of the designer in a world of Agentic AI? Are’nt other departments capable of filling the design gap?_

Let me be direct, I don’t think it’s over for designers. But I do think that the playing field has changed, and more designers need to ask this question seriously now.
