On October 13th of yesteryear, a [**bill**](https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB1043) has passed vote in California which will require age verification on the OS (Operating System) level. This bill, to be more specific, will require the OS developer to provide an interface which requires the user to share their date of birth on account or system setup. This bill was read for the first time on Feb 20th 2025 so it’s been in the works for a while now. It was also sponsored, as stated in the [**bill analysis**](https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billAnalysisClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB1043), by Children Now.
