My $5/month Cloudflare bill hit $4,868 because of an infinite loop

Two bugs in my Cloudflare Workers wrote 4.83 billion rows to D1 in January 2026. The bill hit $4,868 on a $5/month account. Here's what went wrong, how I fought the bill for 18 days, and the circuit breaker system I built after.
