Ask HN: How do you find a mentor in software engineering and in life?

I'm in my early 30s with 10 yoe experience in software engineering. I feel like I'm in need of mentorship in two aspects; my career and direction of my life. For my career, usually this is done with my manager or my skip manager, but I can't openly discuss moving companies with them, or where and how to interview better, or if I should get a masters degree or study x,y,z. For life in general, my parents and I are in different stages of life, live in different continents and were grown in different cultural backgrounds, hence although I do get mentorship, I feel like I'm seeking more from somebody who is in similar situations like me. So how did you guys get your mentors, if you have them?
